Is ASTM the flange dimensional standard?
The listed ASTM references specify materials. Choose the flange dimensional standard and pressure class separately, then confirm that the full configuration complies.
What should I include in a flange enquiry?
Provide standard and edition, size, material specification and grade, type, pressure designation, facing, quantity, and design pressure/temperature. Include a mating drawing when drilling or bore dimensions are critical.
Can flanges of the same nominal size be connected directly?
Check the exact standard, bolt-hole count and diameter, bolt circle, bore, facing and gasket arrangement. A matching size label alone does not establish interchangeability.
